
Hamilton Sundstrand awarded follow-on orders for V-22 Osprey electric power generator systems
WINDSOR LOCKS, USA- North America, Connecticut, May 15, 2006
Hamilton Sundstrand, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), announced today that it has received $15 million in additional electric power generator orders for the Boeing Company’s V-22 Osprey aircraft.
Hardware delivery will begin in 2006. The order is a follow-on for Hamilton Sundstrand which already has delivered eight production lots of electrical power systems for the Osprey.
Hamilton Sundstrand continues to be the electric power system of choice for the V-22 Osprey. The company has delivered, on time, more than 70 ship sets of Integrated Drive Generators (IDGs) for the V-22. When the follow-on deliveries are completed, Hamilton Sundstrand will have delivered 109 ship sets of IDGs for the aircraft.
"We are proud that Boeing has selected Hamilton Sundstrand for Lots 9 through 11 for the V-22 program," said Mark Spana, general manager of Hamilton Sundstrand Defense Systems. "We are delighted that we have been the constant frequency electric power supplier since day one of the program.”
The V-22 Osprey is a tilt-rotor aircraft combining the speed and range of fixed-wing aircraft with the vertical flight performance of a helicopter. The V-22 program is a joint venture between Boeing and Bell Helicopter.
