
NETC to Host 3rd Annual Learning Strategies Conference

PENSACOLA, Fla. (NNS) -- The Naval Education and Training Command (NETC), supported by the Navy’s Human Performance Center, will host a two-day Learning Strategies Consortium (LSC) Conference in Orlando, Fla., June 12-13.
The conference theme for 2006 is "Learning Strategies: The Future Story."
“The conference schedule includes an exciting slate of events designed to look at the future of learning, including the ways in which teaching and learning are evolving in response to changes in subject matter, performance requirements, technology and learner demographics," said Saundra Drummer, Science of Learning director for the Navy’s Human Performance Center. "The conference agenda will cover these issues from the varied perspectives of industry, academia and the government.”
The two-day event will include keynote speakers, interactive panel sessions and breakout sessions, which allow participants to have one-on-one access to the subject matter experts. A sampling of topics on the agenda includes: M-Learning, Gaming for Learning, Human Performance, Evaluation and Assessment, Language and Culture, and the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Crisis. This year, the conference also includes extensive networking events and a networking lunch.
“The LSC is a dynamic blend of members from the ranks of government, industry, and academia committed to providing quality education, training opportunities for our respective communities,” said Drummer. “These nationally recognized experts and leaders in the science of learning and human performance have constructed a compelling and forward-looking agenda for this year’s conference.”
The Marriott World Resort in Orlando, Fla., will be the hosting facility for the 2006 Conference. The conference is open to individuals from all government agencies, academia and industry who are interested in networking and thinking strategically about the future of learning.
