Israeli Airstrike Kills at Least 4 Palestinians
14 December 2005
Witnesses say four Palestinian militants have been killed and about 10 other people wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a car in the Gaza Strip.
Early reports say the Israeli attack targeted members of the Popular Resistance Committees, a coalition of Palestinian militant groups.
An Israeli statement said the attack - near a main cargo crossing in central Gaza - targeted militants preparing to execute an attack inside Israel.
Last week, another senior member of the same group was killed and 10 other people wounded in a similar Israeli attack.
Israel reactivated its policy of targeting Palestinian militant leaders for assassination, after a Palestinian suicide bomber killed five Israelis and wounded about 50 others inside Israel on December 5.
