Israeli Strike Kills Two Militants in Northern Gaza
08 December 2005
Israeli forces stepped up their push against Palestinian militants today (Thursday), killing two suspects and wounding at least 10 other people in a missile strike in the Gaza Strip.
Witnesses say the strike targeted several members of the militant al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades near the northern Gaza town of Jabaliya. The Israeli army said the attack targeted a house belonging to known militants.
A separate missile strike in southern Gaza on Wednesday killed a senior militant in the umbrella Resistance Committees.
In the West Bank, Israel says it has arrested a Palestinian suspected of stabbing and killing an Israeli soldier at a checkpoint north of Jerusalem.
Israel vowed this week to resume its policy of targeting senior militants for assassination, after a Palestinian suicide bomber killed five Israelis in the Israeli town of Netanya on Monday.
