December 5, 2005
FORT HOOD, Texas (Army News Service, Dec. 5, 2005)--Members of Task Force Quake from the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, return to their Fort Hood home this weekend following a six-week deployment to Pakistan providing humanitarian assistance to earthquake victims.
Task Force Quake includes Soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Bravo Company, and Delta Company of the 2nd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, and Bravo Company of the 615th Aviation Support Battalion.
“Our Soldiers will return on a series of several flights into Robert Gray Army Airfield over the course of the next several days,“ said Lt. Col. Chris Joslin, commander of the 2-227th, “Lobo” Battalion.
“We’re all extremely proud of them. They deployed on a moment’s notice and provided lifesaving support to those in dire need of our service,” he said.
Most of the Soldiers involved in the mission to Pakistan also participated in recovery missions in the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Less than 10 days after returning from Conroe, Texas in support of hurricane Rita relief operations, these Soldiers from the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade deployed to Pakistan and remained there in support over the Thanksgiving holiday.
“I couldn’t be happier that these Soldiers will be back here in Texas for the Christmas holidays,” Joslin added. “Their time off and the ability to spend the holidays with their families and friends is well deserved.”
Maj. Gen. Joseph Fil, Jr., commanding general of the 1st Cavalry Division, will be at the flight line to welcome back the aviators.
