IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 04, 2005

DoD Identifies Army Casualties

           

 

            The Department of Defense announced today the death of three soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

 

            They died near Baghdad, Iraq, on Nov. 2, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their HMMWV.  The soldiers were assigned to the Army's 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky. 

 

            Killed were:

 

            Spc. Joshua J. Munger, 22, of Maysville, Mo.

 

            Spc. Benjamin A. Smith, 21, of Hudson, Wis.

 

            Pfc. Tyler R. MacKenzie, 20, of Evans, Colo.
