AL ANBAR PROVINCE, Iraq (NNS) -- The Commander of First Naval Construction Division (1NCD), Rear Adm. Robert L. Phillips, visited Seabees and Soldiers throughout the Al Anbar Province for three days beginning Nov. 12. The Seabees and Soldiers are providing construction support to II Marine Expeditionary Force (forward) (MEF(FWD)).

During his whirlwind tour, Phillips visited the various detachment sites and projects the 30th Naval Construction Regiment (NCR) (FWD) is leading. These projects are in support of ongoing operations and are helping to build the infrastructure of Iraq.

As Phillips toured the projects and ongoing operations of the Seabees, he continually conveyed the message of a "job well done."

During one site visit at Al Asad Surgical, where the Seabees have completed construction of an additional room, Phillips was very satisfied with the results.

The additional room has added to the capabilities of CLB-2, a Level II medical treatment facility, expanding the number of examining tables for casualty care and
evaluation.

Speaking to Capt. Kenneth E. Leonard, commanding officer, Combat Logistic Battalion (CLB) 2 Surgical Company, Phillips said, "We are glad to support you and what you do. You keep us alive".

Leonard was very appreciative of the work the Seabees have done. "We appreciate everything you have done for us," he said.

Phillips wais genuinely concerned about the safety and welfare of all the Seabees and Soldiers and Marines in Iraq. He expressed readiness to provide what the Seabees need to complete their mission safely.

Phillips presented numerous Commander's Coins to the Seabees of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 22. Command coins are presented to select Sailors and Soldiers for excellence in performance of their duties.

As he toured Camp Knott and the work spaces of NMCB 3, he also presented command coins to top performers.

As he went through the Regiment and Battalion spaces, he spoke to each and every Seabee that with whom he crossed paths in theater.

"His presence out here boosts morale," said Engineering Aide 2nd Class Randy Felipe. "For the 'King Bee' to risk coming out here shows his support."

Phillips finished his trip at Camp Fallujah having dinner with the chiefs and officers. During the dinner, he conveyed how much the Seabees are needed out here and that the Marines are glad to have the Seabees supporting them.
