RAFAEL Introduces Advanced Combat Systems Experimentation Tool
20 November 2005 -- RAFAEL Armament Development Authority Ltd. has launched the Multi-Purpose Experimentation Tool - as an infrastructure for carrying out experiments and evaluations on defense solutions under design and in validation stages.
The system is capable of providing a fully-featured virtual environment for systems or subsystems, by simulating a real C4ISR arena and sensor / OTW (Out-of-the-Window) images. As a result, new operational methodologies can be tested in complex scenarios, MOUT scenarios can be simulated for procedural, tactical and constructive training and support for LIC, NCW and asymmetric warfare based experiments can be provided. It also provides test beds for C4ISR systems, high-fidelity, low-cost sub-system validation, such as electro-optic trackers and concept test beds for weapons or new combat doctrines.
The system is based on RAFAEL's RTSAF technology, which generates an accurate battlefield simulation, as well as on Tiltan System Engineering's Tview visualization engine and ILX 2D / Vectors rendering engine. The components have already been delivered to a variety of customers, proving outstanding performance in several experimentation/ training devices. The system is highly customizable, capable of interoperability with many SAF / C4ISR systems and capable of integrating into existing environments with minimal effort.
"Never have we had the ability to test our systems so extensively in a real environment, validate their performance, and then train the users all in one environment. This system has actually improved the overall performance of the systems, while minimizing experimentation costs; only 50% of the actual field tests were carried out and no major re-test was necessary", said Mr. Emil Blumer, Program Manager for Battle Group Simulation Center at RAFAEL.
RAFAEL expects the system to become a major player in the experimentation field.
RAFAEL designs, develops, manufactures and supplies a wide range of advanced defense systems. These leading edge products include naval, air and ground precision weapons, electro-optic systems, electronic warfare (EW) systems, Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) systems, acoustic defense systems, armored protection and training systems.
