November 2, 2005 Release Number: 05-11-02C FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TWO MARINES KILLED IN SUPER COBRA CRASH NEAR AR RAMADI CAMP FALLUJAH, Iraq – Two Marines assigned to the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), were killed in action today when their AH-1W “Super Cobra” helicopter crashed near Ar Ramadi at approximately 8:15 a.m. The incident occurred while the two-man crew was flying in support of security and stabilization operations. Multi-National Force Iraq personnel have secured the site. Recovery operations are ongoing. The cause of the crash is under investigation. The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.
