
General Dynamics Selected to Develop Wireless Network for New York State as Member of Team M/A-COM
NEEDHAM, Mass. – General Dynamics Network Systems today announced that its Wireless Services unit has been selected by M/A-COM, Inc., for a contract valued at more than $100 million to support the development of one of the largest statewide public safety communications projects in the nation. New York’s Statewide Wireless Network (SWN) is intended to improve communications and enhance coordination for state and local public safety and public service organizations responding to emergency situations across New York. General Dynamics Network Systems is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD). M/A-COM, Inc., is a business unit of Tyco Electronics.
As a key supplier to M/A-COM, General Dynamics will provide all site integration activities to include program and construction management and site development for all radio-access site infrastructure.

The New York State Office for Technology (OFT) recently announced that the contract had been approved for the M/A-COM-led team for the design, construction, network operations, and ongoing maintenance of its new SWN. That contract is valued at $2 billion over 20 years.
The new Statewide Wireless Network (SWN) will replace several outdated systems with a state-of-the-art digital land mobile radio network. The SWN will provide an integrated, LMR communications network that will be used by public safety and public service agencies in New York State. The trunked network will incorporate both voice and data capabilities.
General Dynamics is currently partnering with M/A-COM, Inc., to deploy a turnkey, completely integrated, land mobile radio system linking 10 Army installations in the National Capital Region (NCR), facilitating interoperable communications with approximately 60 civilian public safety agencies located in Washington, D.C. and suburban Maryland and Virginia.
