Hamilton Sundstrand to Supply C-130 Propeller Services for Military

Hamilton Sundstrand, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), has been awarded Option 1 of a contract valued at up to $374 million from the U.S. Defense Supply Center in Richmond, Va., for continued logistics support for C-130 cargo aircraft propeller hubs and blades.
Hamilton Sundstrand, a pioneer in propeller system development and manufacture, will supply the services to the U.S. Air Force and Navy.
This contract represents the first of three option renewal phases available to the Defense Supply Center under the original agreement, which consists of a three-year base period and the option periods, each extending three years, for a potential total of 12 years.
According to Bill Silvestri, general manager of the Hamilton Sundstrand Military Customer Support and Logistics organization, "This is a significant contract award for us and follows our strategy of securing long-term support contracts with our military customers. The military benefits by having a guaranteed source of just-in-time parts and significantly less administrative work to keep its supply chain flowing."
Most of the work in support of this contract will be performed at Hamilton Sundstrand facilities in Windsor Locks, Conn.
