ARMY G-4 TRANSFORMS TO BETTER SUPPORT WARFIGHTERS
October 3, 2005
WASHINGTON—The Army G-4 announced today the completion of its strategic realignment, which was the first step in the organization’s transformation to improve the delivery of its core function--enhancing Soldier logistics readiness.
“Fundamentally, the new G-4 will improve readiness for our soldiers by measuring our success at the soldier level. In other words, the new G-4 will have sensors Army-wide providing feedback on what’s going on logistically. The new alignment allows the Army G-4 team to respond rapidly to the needs of our men and women in uniform,” said Lieutenant General Chris Christianson, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics.
The Army G-4 now operates with 5 centers:
• Center for Strategy and Integration (CSI) – CSI influences the strategic direction of Army logistics.
• Center for Logistics Innovation (CLI) – CLI provides innovative capabilities for future logistics readiness.
• Center for Resource Integration (CRI) – CRI provides integrated resources required to maximize logistics capabilities.
• Center for Logistics Readiness (CLR) – CLR exists to sense and analyze logistics readiness of Soldiers, equipment, and units both now and as we can affect it in the future.
• Center for Logistics Policy, Processes and Programs (LP3) – LP3 improves sustainability and deployability of the Army by providing integrated logistics policies, processes and programs.
All centers work together to maintain a ready Army that can be sustained in the Joint Operating Environment. To view a leadership contact chart and to learn more about Army G-4’s transformation go to: http://www.hqda.army.mil/logweb/tranformation.html
The realignment process began in September 2004 when Army G-4 senior leaders gathered to discuss better ways of doing business. Leaders decided the G-4 needed to change both organizationally and culturally to transform into a more dynamic, proactive, responsive and forward-looking 21st century logistics organization capable of succeeding in any environment.
