Two soldiers killed near Haqlaniyah conducting Operation River Gate

CAMP FALLUJAH, Iraq -- Two Soldiers assigned to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2d Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), died of wounds sustained from small arms fire while conducting combat operations in support of Operation River Gate near Haqlaniyah, Iraq Oct. 7.

The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.

Several U.S. Army units are attached to II MEF (Fwd) during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
