At Least 6 Killed By Female Suicide Bomber In Iraq
28 September 2005 -- At least six people were killed and around 30 wounded when a female suicide bomber blew herself up today near a group of people waiting in line in Tal Afar, in northern Iraq.
Police say the attacker set off her explosives while standing among job applicants in Tal Afar, west of Mosul. Another report says the people were waiting in line to receive compensation for damage done to their homes during a recent Iraqi Army and U.S. forces military operation in the town.
The U.S. military says more than 500 insurgents were either killed or captured during the operation. Meanwhile, General Richard Myers, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, says the recent death of high-ranking Al-Qaeda operative Abu Azzam in Baghdad will have "some impact" but will not likely be a fatal blow to the terror network led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
