State Department says three died in service of their country
Three contractors of the Blackwater security consulting firm working with the U.S. mission in Iraq died in a terrorist bomb in Mosul, northern Iraq, September 19, the State Department said in a statement issued September 22.

Death of State Department Contractors in Mosul
The Department of State confirms that three Blackwater contractors working with the Bureau of Diplomatic Security were killed in a terrorist Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device attack on a motorcade in Mosul, Iraq, on September 19. All three were under Chief of Mission authority working as Personal Security Detail members.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of these men. They were valued members of the State Department family and of our Diplomatic Security team in Baghdad. These brave men died in service to their country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
