CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (NNS) -- Due to the approach of Hurricane Rita, Commander, Navy Region South has ordered an evacuation of Naval installations in south Texas, to include Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Naval Station Ingleside, and Naval Air Station Kingsville.
Military and civilian personnel residing on board Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Naval Air Station Kingsville, and Naval Station Ingleside and other government housing areas assigned to those installations are ordered to evacuate to designated safe haven located at Lackland Air Force Base (AFB), San Antonio, Texas, no later than noon, Sept. 22.
Military and civilian personnel attached to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Naval Air Station Kingsville, Naval Station Ingleside and their tenant commands are ordered to evacuate to a safe location within 150 miles of their normal work location or the designated safe haven of Lackland AFB.
Upon arrival at a safe location, all personnel are directed to muster through their chain of command.
