IED detonates on Task Force Liberty patrol, two suspects detained

TIKRIT, Iraq – Task Force Liberty Soldiers fired on two men fleeing the scene of an improvised explosive device attack in Ad Duluiyah around 10 a.m. Sept. 18.
Soldiers in the patrol spotted the men running away after the IED detonated, tried to detain them and then shot them after receiving small arms fire from the suspects. The men, who each received a gunshot wound, were treated by task force personnel and evacuated to a Coalition forces base for further treatment.
Task Force Liberty Soldiers searched the area and found a second IED, consisting of two 155mm rounds and a bottle of fuel, buried in the center of the road.
No Task Force Liberty personnel were injured in the attack.
