CV90 Development Helps Generate BAE SYSTEMS Export Success
13 Sep 2005
Capability enhancement has helped drive continued export success for the BAE Systems Hgglunds CV90 family of tracked infantry fighting vehicle. The agile, multi-role combat vehicle with all-target capability has been continuously developed to meet the challenges of todays threat scenario. The current CV90 platform is based on requirements originally outlined by the Swedish Army. Since production began in 1993 the vehicle has entered service with Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Finland. Last December, the Netherlands signed a contract for 184 CV90s for delivery between 2007 and 2010.
CV90s major capability developments have enhanced survivability in various threat environments. To meet global customer needs, BAE Systems has developed flexible, add-on protection kits which can be adapted to suit specific missions. Current kits include protection against attack from mines, horizontal kinetic energy projectiles plus attacks from above. An integrated defensive aid suite, including laser, radar and missile approach warners is also available
At DSEi BAE Systems will unveil a CV90 variant with a new combined reactive Chemical Energy/Kinetic Energy projectiles protection kit.
