Joint raid captures terrorists, weapons in Diyala Province
Multi-National Force-Iraq
TIKRIT, Iraq – Task Force Liberty and Iraqi army Soldiers captured six terrorists during a joint raid in Barwannah, northeast of Baqubah in Diyala Province, Aug. 26.
Two caches were also discovered, containing one 82 mm mortar system, 14 rocket-propelled grenades, three remote-control detonators and two assault rifles.
The Task Force Liberty and Iraqi army soldiers were fired on during the raid and returned fire, killing one suspected terrorist and wounding another who was detained and treated for his wounds.
The other detainees remain in Iraqi army custody.
No Task Force Liberty or Iraqi army soldiers were injured during the incident.
