Detainee dies following raid
Multi-National Force-Iraq
FOB KALSU, Iraq – A 65-year-old Iraqi detainee died Aug. 18 of an apparent heart attack following a house raid south of Iskandariyah.
The joint raid was conducted by Iraqi Army and Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry, 155th Brigade Combat Team, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
Soldiers provided immediate medical attention to the man and transported him to the Forward Operating Base Iskandariyah aid station, where he was pronounced dead.
A full investigation surrounding the circumstances and the cause of the man's death has been initiated.
The remains will be transferred to the family upon completion of an autopsy. This is standing procedure for all detainees who die while in custody of the Multi-National Force.
The 155th BCT is a U.S. Army unit assigned to the II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
