Antiterrorism Exercises Held In Kazakhstan
17 August 2005 -- Security officials from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine are due to start two days of antiterrorism exercises today on the Kazakh coast of the Caspian Sea.
Kazakhstan's National Security Committee says the exercises outside the town of Aktau will involve "joint efforts to curb acts of sabotage and terrorism on sites of maritime infrastructure and to release hostages."The exercise is being held under the aegis of the CIS Antiterrorism Center. Officials from other CIS republics and regional antiterrorist bodies have been invited to observe the exercises.
