Task Force Liberty Soldiers capture caches, suspected terrorists
TIKRIT, Iraq – Task Force Liberty operations in Salah Ad Din Province August 10 netted weapons caches and detained seven individuals.
Soldiers of Task Force Liberty raided several suspected terrorist houses five miles west of Balad, detaining one individual and uncovering a weapons cache of three rocket-propelled grenade launchers, nine RPG rounds, a mortar tripod, several rifles, two hand grenades, 20 lbs of bulk explosives, 30 lbs of propellant and ammunition.
After taking small-arms fire from a house during a sweep of Ad Duluiyah, Task Force Liberty Soldiers returned fire, killing one terrorist and wounding another. The operation led to the discovery of two weapons caches made up of several rifles, two RPGs, seven RPG rounds, multiple grenades, a bulletproof vest and a 130mm projectile. Six individuals were also detained in relation to the caches.
