New information released on attack near Bayji
Multi-National Force-Iraq
TIKRIT, Iraq – Task Force Liberty has provided additional details on the patrol that was attacked about 11:30 p.m. Aug. 9. near Bayji.
The patrol was investigating explosions in the area when an improvised explosive device detonated. The patrol then received small arms fire.
Four Task Force Liberty Soldiers were killed in the attack.
The injured include five Task Force Liberty Soldiers and one U.S. contractor.
The names of the deceased Soldiers are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
