Update on six Marines killed near Haditha
Multi-National Force-Iraq
CAMP FALLUJAH , Iraq – Six Marines were killed Aug. 1 while conducting dismounted operations outside Haditha. They were engaged by terrorists and killed by small-arms fire. Five Marines were killed in the initial attack; one was unaccounted for and his body later found and safely recovered a few kilometers away. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation.
Names of the deceased are being withheld until notification of next of kin.
