  The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

            Cpl. Steven P. Gill, 24, of Round Rock, Texas, died July 21 from an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations near Zaidon, Iraq.  He was assigned to the Marine Reserve’s 4^th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4^th Marine Division, San Antonio, Texas.   During Operation Iraqi Freedom his unit was attached to Regimental Combat Team-8, 2^nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
