BAE Systems awarded advanced demonstration phase of SHAMAN
28 Jul 2005 | Ref. 142/2005
BAE Systems has been awarded the contract for the Advanced Demonstration Phase of SHAMAN. This is the first stage of the £140m ISTAR programme to provide the Royal Navy with its next generation Communications Electronic Support Measures (CESM) capability. The programme encompasses the supply of the CESM systems, their installation on multiple platforms, along with the training and through life support over a 20+year period.
Clive Richardson, Managing Director, BAE Systems Integrated System Technologies (Insyte) said “In February, it was announced that BAE Systems had been down-selected as preferred contractor for this major UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) project. This is a great start for Insyte, and in particular the SHAMAN project team”.
The Insyte team includes members from other BAE Systems businesses, Information & Electronic Warfare Systems (IEWS) in North America and CS&S, along with industry partner QinetiQ. The Advanced Demonstration Phase will last for seven months and is prior to the main production programme being awarded.
During the bidding stage of this project Insyte built upon its strong relationship with BAE Systems North America. Working with the IEWS business, Insyte continues to investigate opportunities for collaboration and mutual technology pull through between the UK & US.
