Aircraft will be the platform for the "AISIS" Airborne Integrated SIGINT System manufactured by Israel Aircraft Industries' Elta Systems Group
The first G5 Special Electronic Mission Aircraft ("SEMA") was delivered to the Israel Air Force (IAF) at a special acceptance ceremony held on June 26, 2005. Attendees included Defense Minister - Mr. Shaul Mofaz, Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff - Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz, Commander of the Israel Air Force - Maj. Gen. The "SEMA" aircraft, a Gulfstream G5 executive jet, will be the platform for the Elta "AISIS" Airborne Integrated SIGINT (Signal Intelligence) System. "AISIS" is a multi-sensor system comprised of the aircraft, mission systems and ground support facilities. Elta Systems is a Group and Subsidiary of Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI).
The "AISIS" is Network Centric System, based on a centralized network for collection, sorting, exploitation and dissemination of intelligence information.
IAI's President & CEO, Mr. Moshe Keret, said at the G5 acceptance ceremony that "IAI is proud to perform this program of supplying an advanced airborne system by Elta Systems to the IAF. We will continue to develop advanced technologies and unique systems for Israel Defense Forces (IAF)'s needs and requirements".
"Choosing Elta as provider of the systems to this program establishes us as leaders in intelligence systems and provides additional confirmation to the high level of trust in our teams, products and abilities," said IAI's Corporate VP and Elta System's President, Mr. Israel Livnat. "This is a first system in a series of multi-mission airborne intelligence systems Elta is developing for the Israel Air Force. This system will add to the security of the State of Israel," added Mr. Livnat.
Gulfstream Corporation and Lockheed Martin Corporation carried out the G5 design and conversion from executive jet to SEMA configuration. Teams of the IAF, Elta and IAI performed close accompaniment and monitoring of the design and performance of conversion of the G5 aircraft from executive jet to SEMA configuration.
IAI's Elta Systems and Bedek Aviation Groups will install and integrate the mission systems on the aircraft. Elta is prime contractor and integrator of the aircraft in Israel. System operations will be verified in a series of test flights prior to final acceptance by the IAI.
