Georgia Guard Soldiers ready for Iraq mission
BAGHDAD , Iraq – Soldiers of 48th Brigade Combat Team, Georgia Army National Guard, are settling into their base camps and preparing for military operations as part of Task Force Baghdad.
Since arriving in the region, the approximately 4,000 48th BCT Soldiers have been conducting individual training, moving unit personnel, equipment and vehicles into position, and preparing for full operations within the assigned area of responsibility.
“The brigade is ready and we look forward to getting into the fight and taking over the area of responsibility,” said Lt. Col. Mark London, 48th BCT operations officer.
48th BCT Soldiers have been acclimating to the camp and the various requirements for their mission.
The brigade's task forces are focusing on providing support and training to both the Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police.
