Jun 13, 2005
The new EL/L-8265 Radar Warning and Locator (RWL) system, which marks a new generation of Radar Warning Receivers, has been developed by Israel Aircraft Industries' Elta Systems Group (IAI Elta). EL/L-8265 is a compact system designed to identify, warn and accurately locate radar threats.
EL/L-8265 is an airborne system designed to operate in a complex radar environment. It works using a combination of radar warning receivers (RWR), electronic support measures and electronic intelligence (ESM/ELINT). EL/L-8265 uses radar Doppler Beam Sharpening (DBS) technology to accurately locate all types of radar threat. It also provides a tactical electronic order of battle in the aircraft's area of operation.
EL/L-8265 can use the aircraft's existing RWR antennas or be fitted with mission-specific antennas. The system can be extended to include also radar-jamming capabilities.
