U.S. Air Force awards Hamilton Sundstrand an aftermarket contract valued at up to $250 million

PARIS AIR SHOW, France- Europe, Jun 12, 2005

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Hamilton Sundstrand a contract with an estimated value of $250 million over three years to supply spare parts and logistics support for a wide range of military aircraft.

The contract will support the Air Force depot repair of electric power system generators and constant speed drives for aircraft, plus specific parts, including gearboxes and fuel controls for F-16 fighter jets.

Altogether, about 5,400 items will be incorporated into the contract, including support for the following aircraft: A-10, B-1, B-52, C-130, C-141, C-5, E-3, F-15, F-16, KC-135 and T-38.

"This award, a part of a larger Strategic Supplier Alliance initiative with the U.S. government, helps us reduce administrative lead-time and production lead-time while expanding Hamilton Sundstrand's role from a transactional parts supplier to a logistics support partner with the Department of Defense," said Bill Silvestri, general manager of the Hamilton Sundstrand Military Spares and Logistics organization.

Under this approach, the government buys performance levels and services in addition to individual spare parts or technical data.

Most of the work in support of this contract will be performed at Hamilton Sundstrand facilities in Rockford, Illinois, and San Diego, California.

Hamilton Sundstrand, a subsidiary of United Technologies (NYSE: UTX), is a leading supplier of aircraft systems and services and employs approximately 16,000 worldwide.
