CACI Awarded $9.8 Million Contract to Support U.S. Navy Electronic Defense System
Company Wins Recompete Award to Enhance System Interoperability
Arlington, VA, June 1, 2005 — CACI International Inc (NYSE:CAI) announced today that it has been awarded a four-year, $9.8 million prime recompete contract by the Port Hueneme Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC PHD) to provide sensor network engineering, integrated logistics, and test evaluation services in support of the Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC), a naval electronic defense system. The award, which was made as a task order under the SeaPort Enhanced contract vehicle, extends the work CACI first began in 1998. The work will be performed in California, Virginia, and on board Navy ships and aircraft worldwide. The award expands CACI's engineering and logistics line of business.
The CEC system integrates data from a Navy network of sensors on ships and aircraft, creating a single common air defense tactical display or "air picture." CEC technology enables earlier detection and more consistent tracking of air threats and contacts. The CEC is tested and implemented at NSWC PHD, the Navy's in-service engineering and logistics center.
CACI provided proven expertise in a wide range of engineering services on the original CEC effort, helping to launch the system successfully and on time. With this recompete award, the company will expand this work and focus on evaluating and integrating new technologies for enhanced system interoperability. CACI's record of uninterrupted CEC service, coupled with its growing expertise in CEC requirements and technology, assures the Navy of continued high-quality support.
According to CACI Chairman, President, and CEO Dr. J.P. (Jack) London, "The Cooperative Engagement Capability defense system is one of the most sophisticated tools in the U.S. Navy's arsenal. As more and more technology-based airborne threats are identified by the Navy, CACI is stepping up efforts to help the Navy enhance the CEC system to address these dangers. We worked with the Navy to first test and implement the system, and we are standing side by side with the Navy now to continually upgrade it, acting together to identify and develop new technologies to combat emerging threats."
