Italian patrol finds weapons cache

BASRAH, Iraq – An Italian Joint Task Force patrol discovered a weapons cache in the vicinity of Sooq Ash Shuyookh, Dhi Qar Province May 17. The cache contained roughly 450 pounds of explosives, 130mm rockets, 150 fuses and anti-tank mines.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team investigated the find. Following the EOD team’s assessment, the cache was destroyed in place by a controlled detonation.
