Task Force Liberty Soldiers follow tip to munitions cache

TIKRIT, Iraq – A tip led Task Force Liberty Soldiers to discover a large munitions cache south of Samarra at about 1:30 p.m. May 8.
The cache contained 17 107mm rockets, 35 115mm tank rounds, 14 130mm artillery shells, eight 155mm artillery shells, and an assortment of mortar, anti-aircraft and artillery rounds.
The majority of the cache was blown up at the site by Task Force Liberty explosive ordnance disposal personnel and the rest was secured for future destruction.
