Soldiers near Musayyib provide aid to attack victims

FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq –When terrorists fired mortar rounds near the Taheer Patrol Base, near Musayyib, Soldiers assigned to II Marine Expeditionary force (Fwd) provided medical assistance.

Soldiers of the 155th Brigade Combat Team responded by sending a five-man medical team, including a physician, to the scene to assist Iraqi medical personnel on site. Civil Affairs personnel also responded by taking medical supplies to the area.

Six mortar rounds were fired at the base at approximately 7:30 a.m. None landed within the base.

The wounded were taken to the Musayyib hospital and one civilian was airlifted to the 86th Combat Surgical Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 155th BCT is a U.S. Army unit assigned to the II Marine Expeditionary Force (Fwd) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
