Bomb Explosions in Baghdad Kill at least 15, Wound Many

By VOA News
24 April 2005

Iraqi authorities say two bomb explosions in Baghdad have killed at least 15 people near a Shi'ite mosque. Early reports say nearly 60 others were wounded.

Police say the second explosion came when a suicide bomber drove his car into a crowd gathered to help victims of the first blast.

Elsewhere Sunday, police say two suicide car bombers killed at least six people and wounded dozens outside a police academy in the northern city of Tikrit.

Authorities say four policemen were among those killed in blasts just minutes apart.

Separately, a roadside bomb killed an American soldier Sunday in eastern Baghdad. An American sailor assigned to a Marine Corps unit was killed by a bomb Saturday in the town of Fallujah.
