RUSSIAN CITIZENS IN KYRGYZSTAN ARE ASKED TO AVOID PANIC
BISHKEK, April 18 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Yevgeny Shmagin appealed to Russian citizens residing on the territory of the republic not to yield to panic.
That appeal followed in the wake of "rumors about calls for future redistribution of property and ethnic confrontation."
"Destructive forces are trying to interfere with normalization of the situation in the republic and make all possible efforts to disrupt the actions taken by the new Kyrgyz government aimed at establishing law and order," the Russian Ambassador believes.
The Russian diplomat considers the existing difficulties "temporary," and believes that the Kyrgyz people "will overcome these difficulties."
In difficult conditions, the Russian Embassy officials maintain "active dialogue with all branches of power in the republic, defending the rights of Russian citizens residing in Kyrgyzstan."
The Kyrgyz leadership assured us that it would not allow destabilization of the situation and violation of rights of Kyrgyz population, including members of Russian-speaking community," Shmagin underlined.
