Detainee death leads to fight at Camp

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Triggered by the murder of one detainee, a fight
broke out between two groups of detainees at one of the compounds at
the Camp Bucca theater internment facility at approximately 11 p.m.,
April 14th. Criminal Investigation Command is currently conducting a
murder investigation. The fight was confined between the detainees in
one compound and was not directed at US Forces.
The guards regained control of the compound and immediately began
rendering medical treatment to twelve other detainees who were injured
during the fight.
The remains will be transferred to the Iraqi government and returned
to the family upon completion of an autopsy. This is standing
procedure for all detainees who die while in custody of the
Multi-National Force.
Camp Bucca is located in the southeastern region of Iraq and holds
more than 6,000 detainees.
