Task Force Liberty detain three after
Improvised Explosive Device attack
TIKRIT, IRAQ - Task Force Liberty Soldiers detained three
individuals in connection with an improvised explosive device attack
on a Coalition combat patrol at about 4:55 p.m. April 12 near
Muqdadiyah in Diyala Province.
After the IED detonation, civilians in the area identified one of the
suspects to the Soldiers in the patrol. The suspect fled the scene on
a motorcycle, and was followed to a house by Task Force Liberty AH-64
Apache helicopters.
The individual attempted to flee again, this time in a car, as a 3rd
Brigade Combat Team quick reaction force cordoned off the area. When
the Apaches appeared over the fleeing car, the individual pulled into
a nearby driveway and was detained.
A search of the area resulted in two more individuals detained, and
one motorcycle and 20 assault rifles confiscated. The detainees will
be checked for evidence of explosive residue and questioned.
No Task Force Liberty Soldiers were injured or equipment damaged by
the IED.
