RIA Novosti
BISHKEK, April 11 (RIA Novosti) - Under the Constitution of Kyrgyzstan, Askar Akayev will enjoy all privileges of an ex-president.
"Under Article 52 of the Constitution, Akayev is the ex-president and shall enjoy all rights envisaged by this status," Erkin Alynbekov, the Deputy Speaker of the Kyrgyz parliament, told RIA Novosti.
However, Alynbekov recalled that a commission comprising government officials and members of parliament was investigating into Akayev's activities when president.
Alynbekov said in the event the commission uncovered criminal offenses committed by Akayev, "we will look for ways to bring him to justice notwithstanding his status of ex-president."
