KYRGYZ GOVERNMENT REFUTES INFORMATION ON CABINET ASSAULT

RIA Novosti

BISHKEK, April 11 (RIA Novosti, Yulia Orlova) - The Kyrgyz president's press service refuted reports by some Kyrgyz media which said that a group of persons in Bishkek made one more assault attempt on the government building on Monday.

Earlier, the Kyrgyz mass media reported that some 200 supporters of deputy Zhusup Imanaliyev had blocked all entries and exits to the government house. They became indignant at the Supreme Court's decision on revote at some polling stations of the Bakai-Atin district, where Imanaliyev and Ravshan Zheenbekov were nominated. After the second round of the vote, Imanaliyev was recognized winner, but later the district court, on a lawsuit by Zeenbekov's supporters, canceled his win. This led to mass protest actions in Talas and Bishkek. But the Supreme Court, having considered the case, ruled to hold a revote.

RIA Novosti was told in the press service of acting Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev that presently there are some 80 people near the government building. They are supporters of a parliament deputy. Negotiations are underway with them. The protesters were invited inside the government premises for negotiations.

The press service said acting President, Prime Minister Kurmanbek Bakiyev signed Monday a decree on the establishment of the State Commission to work out measures to further stabilize the public and political situation.

The state commission comprising representatives of political parties, non-governmental organizations and parliament was called upon to contribute to elaboration of measures to localize the hotbeds of tension and stabilize the situation in the country. The commission will also have to comprehensively study the reasons, conditions and circumstances that resulted in the events of March 24, 2005.
