AKAEV RULES OUT POSSIBILITY OF PROMPT RETURN TO BISHKEK
RIA Novosti
MOSCOW, April 11 (RIA Novosti's Sergei Gorbunov) - Askar Akaev rules out the possibility of prompt return to Bishkek.
"It is impossible in the near future: they have done everything for me not to return to the homeland", Akaev says in the RIA Novosti interview.
He expects that he can return to Bishkek only after the presidential election and under certain conditions.
The parliament of Kyrgyzstan has called the presidential election on July 10.
"I may return only after the presidential election and depending on the situation: what power comes after the election - that which respects the law and the human rights or builds everything with reliance on the use of force", Akaev says.
The present authorities "have opened the door to the use of force in tackling all questions", he says. "And they are already yielding fruit: supporters of people done down by the new authorities are gathered in front of the Government House", he says.
