OWEGO, NY, April 11th, 2005 -- Lockheed Martin has hired the Montour Falls, NY-based construction firm of Welliver McGuire, Inc., as general contractor for its new presidential helicopter facility in Owego. The contract’s value is approximately $25 million.

“This selection moves us closer to providing the Commander-in-Chief with new Marine One helicopters,” said Stephen D. Ramsey, executive vice president for Helicopter Systems at Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego. “With Welliver McGuire overseeing construction of this state-of-the-art complex, we are sure to have a world-class facility worthy of the Presidential Helicopter program.”

Welliver McGuire has been charged with building the 176,000 square-foot presidential helicopter facility that will house the program’s administrative offices, systems integration laboratories, and an aircraft integration hangar. Construction of the facility will begin following design completion and appropriate site preparation. The facility is expected to be ready for occupancy in approximately one year.

With more than 400 completed projects to date, Welliver McGuire maintains an excellent reputation for delivering projects on time with high levels of customer service while maintaining cost commitments. The company is ranked among the top construction firms in the United States and is recognized as one of the premier general contractors in central New York.

“Welliver McGuire was selected based on past performance, experience with similarly-sized construction projects, and project management experience in our region,” Ramsey said. “Overall, Welliver McGuire’s selection represents a best-value decision with tremendous benefit to the Presidential Helicopter program.”

Lockheed Martin Systems Integration - Owego is the prime contractor and systems integrator for the U.S. Navy’s Presidential Helicopter Replacement (VXX) program.
