KYRGYZSTAN TO STAY FULL-FLEDGED SHANGHAI ORGANIZATION MEMBER
BISHKEK, April 6 (RIA Novosti) - Kyrgyzstan will carry on work in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in full scope, reassured Kurmanbek Bakiev, Kyrgyz Prime Minister and acting President, as he and Zhang Deguang, SCO Executive Secretary, met in Bishkek today.
Mr. Bakiev offered extensive information on what the Kyrgyz government is doing to bring the situation back to normal, and ensure social and economic stability, his press service said to Novosti.
"What took place in Kyrgyzstan was not by chance-we owed it all to rampant corruption and poverty. The government will do all it can to bring this country calm and stability," he reassured.
The negotiators discussed regional security efforts, evaluated the prospective agenda for the next Organization summit, due in Astana, Kazakh capital, July, and analyzed economic partnership programs and prospects.
Mr. Zhang also met at the negotiation table with Omurbek Tekebayev, Kyrgyz parliament Speaker. The visitor called all Organization member countries to build up interparliamentary contacts as they promise a reliable legal basis for closer interstate links and partnership.
