| April 6, 2005 Release Number: 05-04-09C FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 16 DEAD IN HELICOPTER CRASH KABUL, Afghanistan - Sixteen people have now been confirmed dead in the crash of a Coalition CH-47 transport helicopter near Ghazni on Wednesday afternoon. Eighteen people, including crew members and passengers, were listed on the flight manifest; two remain unaccounted for. Recovery operations have ended for the night due to darkness and weather conditions. The names of the dead are being withheld pending notification of the next of kin. The cause of the crash will be investigated. -30- |
