
General Dynamics Awarded $13 Million for Abrams Tank Systems Technical Support
STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – The U. S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Warren, Mich., has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), a $13 million contract modification for systems technical support (STS) for the Abrams tank.
STS allows the change-out of obsolete parts and keeps the Abrams tanks current to their base configuration. The principal objective of STS is to maintain Abrams tanks at high operational readiness rates.
Work will be performed at General Dynamics Land Systems’ headquarters in Sterling Heights, Mich., and is expected to be completed by Aug. 31, 2006. The contract being modified was initially awarded on Nov. 23, 2001.
General Dynamics, headquartered in Falls Church, Va., employs approximately 70,200 people worldwide and had 2004 revenue of $19.2 billion.
