MILITANTS SHOOT AT POLICEMEN IN CHECHNYA

GROZNY, April 1 (RIA Novosti) - Militants have shot at Grozny's regional interior department officers, RIA Novosti was told by a source in the Chechen Interior Ministry.
"Yesterday, in the village of Kulary of the Grozny region, several people shot from automatic weapons at officers of the special platoon engaged in search and operative activity," said the Interior Ministry.
By their data, by return fire, the policemen forced the attackers to retreat.
"As a result, a policeman was wounded and hospitalized," said the source.
Search for criminals is underway, he added.
The source said the director of a state enterprise had died the day before in Grozny as a result of an explosion of an unidentified device.
In his words, the device wrapped in a bag exploded in the hands of the director of the Sovkhoz Prigorodny state unitary enterprise. Witnesses said an unknown man had given the bag to him shortly before.
The head of the enterprise died of wounds on site. The police are trying to identify the man who gave him the device.
