KYRGYZ PARLIAMENTARIAN: THERE IS NO CLEAR AND COHERENT SUBJECT FOR TALKS WITH AKAYEV

RIA Novosti

MOSCOW/BISHKEK, April 1 (RIA Novosti) - Tashkul Kereksizov, deputy of the Kyrgyz parliament and member of the group of deputies to hold talks with Kyrgyzstan's president believes that there is no clear and coherent subject for talks with Askar Akayev.

"Each side - Akayev, parliament, the current authority and the population - has interests of its own," Kereksizov said on Friday.

The place and time of the presumed talks of the commission of deputies of Kyrgyzstan's parliament and Askar Akayev have not been determined yet, Kereksizov said.

In his opinion, Akayev can reject Kiev which was offered by Ukraine's authorities as the place of the forthcoming meeting, since, as the Parliamentarian believes, in the past Akayev voiced his "hostile attitude to the revolutions in Georgia and Ukraine."

On Wednesday the Kyrgyz parliament formed a commission of deputies called upon to hold talks with Askar Akayev with a view to accepting his resignation. Parliament speaker Omurbek Tekebayev heads the commission.

Akayev earlier stated in an interview given to Russian mass media that the new parliament is the only legitimate branch of power in Kyrgyzstan with which he is ready to hold talks.

Askar Akayev is still "de-jure" president of Kyrgyzstan despite the fact that he has actually left the country.
