GEORGIA AFRAID OF SOUTH OSSETIA'S MILITARIZATION
RIA Novosti
TBILISI, April 1 (RIA Novosti) - Georgia deems it necessary to reinforce the personnel of the OSCE office in Tskhinvali, capital of the self-proclaimed republic of South Ossetia.
"Four OSCE officials in Tskhinvali are insufficient for total control over developments in the region," Georgian State Minister for Separatist Conflicts Georgy Khaindrava said after the meeting with Chairman-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Dimitrij Rupel.
According to him, we should be aware of the developments in the Tskhinvali region (the Georgian name for South Ossetia) from the point of view of militarization.
OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel arrived in Tbilisi from Yerevan on Friday morning. Rupel has already met with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and parliamentary speaker Nino Burdzhanadze.
Rupel's two-day visit to Tbilisi will focus on key aspects of Georgia-OSCE cooperation, promotion of the project of Georgian border guards' training and the OSCE role in the settlement of conflicts on Georgian territory.
Dimitrij Rupel is also scheduled to deliver a report at a business forum organizing by Slovenian businessmen, who accompany the Foreign Ministry during his South Caucasian tour.
On April 2 Dimitrij Rupel will go to Baku.
