155th BCT soldiers seize weapons caches
FORWARD OPERATING BASE KALSU, Iraq - Soldiers of the155th
Brigade Combat Team, a U.S. Army unit assigned to the I Marine
Expeditionary Force, discovered two weapons cache sites near Forward
Operating Base Dogwood on Monday. The large find took several days
to excavate.
Items seized and subsequently destroyed included:
(3) 30mm rifle grenades (3) 40mm rifle grenades
(2) 60mm rifle grenades (138) 60mm mortar rounds
(67) 73mm RPG rounds (93) 80mm mortar rounds
(11) 85mm RPG rounds (13) 100mm mortar rounds
(4) 107mm rockets (1) 120mm mortar tube
(143) 120mm mortar rounds (82) 122mm artillery rounds
(128) 125mm artillery rounds (33) 130mm artillery rounds
(159) 122mm missiles (7) Surface to air missiles
(10) Rockets (35) Hand grenades
(5) Rocket motors (1) Rocket propelled grenade launcher
(8) AK47 assault rifles (8) Heavy machine guns
(40,000) rounds of assorted small arms ammunition
(5000) Feet detonation cord (2) Bags of high explosive
(3000) Time fuses (5) 155mm artillery rounds
Five individuals with possible connections to these cache sites were
detained by soldiers of the 155th Brigade Combat Team.
The 155th Brigade Combat Team will continue to diligently search
for and destroy these weapons cache sites in order to deprive
terrorists and criminals the ability to inflict terror on the Iraqi
people.
