NEW INTERIOR MINISTER DEMANDS ORDER IN THE KYRGYZ CAPITAL
BISHKEK, March 25 (RIA Novosti) - New Kyrgyz Interior Minister Felix Kulov ordered law enforcement bodies to ensure security and establish order in the capital of the republic.
A source in the Kyrgyz National Security Service reported that Kulov issued a special order to all heads of law enforcement structures.
"Law enforcement bodies and the National Security Service received specific instructions to order their operatives to return to normal duties and ensure security in the capital," the source revealed.
Earlier, Kulov addressed Kyrgyz citizens on national TV will appeal to maintain order, remain in houses after dark and keep children at home.
Kulov apologized for the situation in the capital and promised that it would be normalized soon.
The source expressed hope that the number of spontaneous crimes in Bishkek will decrease by the end of the day and the authorities would manage to stop public disturbances.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyz acting president Kurmanbek Bakiyev appointed several members of the new Cabinet on Friday. According to the Kabar news agency, Usen Sydykov was appointed head of presidential administration, and Rosa Otunbayeva was appointed state secretary. Also, acting governors of three regions were appointed.
